Sulla scia dei ricordi più cari – LIVAS

Sede LIVAS, Via roma

In the wake of the cherished memories

Li.V.A.S is an association born in Gonnosfanadiga in 1987. In those years, with great excitement of the members, following the example of the affiliated and homonymous association, Li.V.A.S. of Terralba, they worked to meet the social health need of Gonnosfanadiga.

Many years have passed since then but we will never forget the support of our brothers from Terralba and their president Pietrino Mele.

Today we look back at our 34 years of foundation and our 29 years of activity.

Not everything, going further, was simple as in the beginning.

We had to face many difficulties along the way, many were the burocracy procedures that brought us to a standstill from 1987 to 1992.

That same here our original member Antonio Pinna came back to Gonnosfanadiga,  he made possible for us to have the first ambulance in agreement with Aures (Azienda Regionale Emergenza Urgenza 118 Sardegna). He moved to Genova and brought his family experience to his homeland, this experience made him connect with volunteering in the social health field.

His story inspired motivation to all the founders and in 1992 Li.V.A.S. finally became active.

In 1994, thanks to the support of the members and to the donations of the people, we bought the first ambulance: a Fiat Ducato 238.

Among all the stories and anecdotes we want to highlight a memories from the summer of 1995.

Let’s take a step back! It was April 26th 1986 when the whole world cried for the Chernobyl disaster. A nuclear accident that caused thousands of deaths, pollunting the earth and the air in the then Ukrainian SSR. You make think: what does this place far away have to do with our association?

In 1995 the regional committee of A.N.P.AS. (National Association of Public Assistance) that we are a part of, promoted a project named “CHERNOBYL”. This project involved the participation of 35 families that were happy to take care of some kids coming from Belarus who had the need to live in wellness with healthy food, pure air, friendship and psychological support.

Li.V.A.S in that year, during the social manifestation, welcomed the chosen families to this project.

From that summer this memory follows us with great pride.

Many of those kids are adults now and they forgot everything about those years but they still are grateful and appreciative to many families of Gonnosfanadiga.

The “CHERNOBYL” project stays one of our best memories because it was one of our first experiences that taught us to “connect” and still motivates us today not to stop to our reality but to search for partnerships and cooperations that have, as ultimate goal, the well-being of others.
